Lamees Al Owani

Lemees was born in Ghor Al Safi, few kilometers south of the Dead Sea, and grew up as a middle child in a family of five. The dire economic situation of Al Ghor in general and her family in specific has not deterred her from excelling in her academics and extracurricular activities. People that know Lemees well say that her personality is hard to ignore. Teachers and peers alike admire her competitive, yet friendly, spirit .

Lemees has consistently been a star performer at her school, always among the top of her class. It did not come as a surprise to anyone when she received the highest Tawjihi grade across the whole of the Ghor region, achieving a remarkable 89.6%.

Lemees is determined to work hard in university until she earns her masters degree in English. Once a graduate, she wants to work in the diplomatic field where she will gain the necessary experience allowing her to join the staff of one of Jordan’s embassies abroad.

Meanwhile, and like many young graduates in South Ghor, the modest financial means of the community left Lemees unsure whether she can afford to attend university or not. Through the Zikra Scholarship Fund and the generous contribution of our of our donors, Lemees was able to secure a educational sponsorship.
